Robert M. Volmer, President

As a founding partner of Crosby~Volmer International Communications, Rob brings more than 15 years of experience in consumer and business-to-business product/brand marketing, government, public affairs and corporate public relations. He currently oversees the day-to-day management for the agency and plays an active role in all client business, specifically in the areas of strategic planning, counsel, message development and overall program design.

Background / Accomplishments

  • Clients ranging from The Prudential to Dow Chemical have looked to Rob for counsel regarding their strategic communications. Rob has worked with 17 Fortune 500 Companies on consumer and B2B media relations, investor relations, crisis communications, and internal communications.
  • Capitol Hill – Rob regularly engineers events and press conferences geared towards a Capitol Hill audience. He has arranged more than 20 Congressional testimony opportunities on behalf of Crosby~Volmer clients.
  • Rob has worked with foreign governments including the countries of Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Senegal on strategic messaging and public relations programs both in the U.S. and abroad.
  • He has personally run press conferences in 34 countries worldwide for government and corporate clients.
  • Rob has managed more than 15 successful company/product launches including entry into the U.S. market for the Chinese America Electronics Corporation, one of the 100 largest companies in China.
  • Product launches have included mobile entertainment devices, tires, alcohol, technology, and beauty products on six continents.
  • Associations including The National Association of Broadcasters, National Beer Wholesalers Association, and Electronic Industries Alliance have depended on Rob’s expertise to communicate their messages to target audiences ranging from Capitol Hill to state Capitals to consumers.
  • Prior to co-founding Crosby~Volmer, Rob worked for the Air Transport Association (ATA) where he managed public relations efforts as Manager of Corporate Communications for the Air Travel Card division.
  • Rob has also managed media relations campaigns for hotels including Hilton Hotels Corporation and The Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C.
 

Lori Guyton, Executive Vice President

Lori has over 30 years’ experience in public relations working with national brands including Nike, The Home Depot and AT&T Wireless. She manages clients in the financial and housing/mortgage sectors. She is responsible for developing the proprietary processes and platforms that drive robust, multi-layered PR campaigns that generate thousands of earned-media placements each month.

 

Steve Gardner, Senior Vice President

Steve brings 21 years of Washington DC experience to CVIC. He currently manages new business development and leads a team working with clients on a number of public policy issues.

Prior to joining CVIC Steve ran public relations and marketing communications for USP, a global pharmaceutical standards organization. As the organization’s first VP of Global Communications he established corporate communications and crisis practices for the organization in India, China, Brazil, Ghana and other countries. He managed the Premier of China’s visit to USP facilities and the communications work with the Chinese Government. He also led internal communications.

Steve created and led the American Chemistry Council’s national public outreach campaign. A $20 million annual effort, Steve led digital and crisis communications as well as national advertising and industry-wide employee outreach.

Steve began his career with WeberShandwick working on airline, chemical, manufacturing, non-profit and consumer facing clients.

 

Jordan Hassin, Vice President

Jordan Hassin joined CVIC in 2008, prior to which he served for three years as Deputy Cultural Attaché for an embassy in Washington, DC. As part of his responsibilities, Jordan manages aerospace industry clients that touch aviation, maritime, IoT and land mobile verticals. In addition, Jordan manages elements of the government awareness portfolio, serving as the day-to-day contact for Congress, federal agencies and the White House. He specializes in developing consumer, trade and business earned media strategies and producing experiential marketing events such as panel discussions, seminars and launch events.

Jordan was key to CVIC’s support of the National Association of Broadcasters and the Digital Television Transition, managing education and awareness efforts in 10 states.

Jordan has placed his clients with dozens and dozens of top tier media like The New York Times, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, Popular Science, FORTUNE Magazine, Wired, and more. He holds both a BA and MA from American University specializing in Public Communication.

 

Joe Matulich, Vice President

Joe brings a wealth of marketing, communications and new media experience to CVIC where he currently serves as Vice President of the San Francisco office. Joe brings the ability to tell our clients’ stories through traditional video and social mediums.

Prior to joining CVIC, Joe founded Omega Productions, an award-winning film, video production and communications company to create high impact film and video productions. His new media and marketing campaign work has benefitted the Stanford Business School, Apple, Levi Strauss, GAP, Oracle, SONY and The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

In the 1990s during the early expansion of the Web, Joe worked in the epicenter of Silicon Valley, counseling numerous technology companies on the importance of emotional impact in communications, particularly as the Internet provided an increasing glut of raw information.

Joe is the recipient of many industry awards including a Gold Cindy, First Place/National Education Film Festival, 5 CINE Golden Eagles, the Telly Award, the NY Film Festival World Medal and a Joey Award for corporate training.

 

William Whitaker, Director of Digital Media

As CVIC’s Director of Digital Media, Will provides results-focused, metrics-driven turnkey digital communications support to Crosby~Volmer clients. Will brings more than fifteen years of professional digital communications experience to his role.

Prior to joining CVIC, Will was Web Content Manager and Blog Editor-in-Chief at the United States Pharmacopeia—overseeing the content strategy, governance, and editorial direction of the organization’s public-facing websites and blog. He co-led the organization’s Storytelling initiative, managed the Online Advisory Community, and provided Web content and governance support to the organization’s offices and laboratories in Brazil, China, and India.

Will is a former member of the executive team at Russell Public Communications—where he worked on digital, earned and paid media, event promotion and coordination, partnerships, and strategic planning initiatives for clients that included Cancer Treatment Centers of America, the Special Needs Alliance, the Central Arizona Project, the Center for Neurosciences, and the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine.

He is also a former reporter and copywriter whose work on politics, education, health, law, business, labor, sports, and entertainment has appeared in publications throughout the country.
