The challenge of educating the public ahead of the upcoming digital television transition will be the focus of the December meeting of the Memphis chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
The 11:45 a.m. luncheon on Dec. 10 at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn is free for PRSA members, $25 for nonmembers and $15 for students.
Andrew Crosby, managing principal for Washington, D.C.-based Crosby~Volmer International Communications, and David Patterson, the firm's account executive, will speak at the luncheon.
Crosby, who is in the firm's Memphis office, and Patterson will talk about the communications plan behind the campaign to increase awareness of the Feb. 17, 2009, analog shutoff.
Among other things, Crosby and Patterson will talk about the lessons learned from a recent test conducted in Wilmington, N.C., and the challenges of working with the Federal Communications Commission and other agencies.
