Larry Farnsworth works with our clients developing strategic planning and messaging. He specializes in ideation and execution that delivers impactful messages to target audiences. Prior to joining Crosby~Volmer, Larry spent three years as Deputy Press Secretary and Speechwriter in the press office of former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL).

Background / Accomplishments

• While working for Speaker Hastert, Larry oversaw the coordination of the Speaker's media appearances;
• Secured media opportunities for members of the House Republican Conference by pitching stories to the nation's leading political journalists and broadcast media elites.
• In 2005, it was Larry's idea to create a blog on the Speaker's Web site that made then-Speaker Hastert the only member of elected leadership in both the House and Senate to have an actual working blog, which gained national recognition.
• Helped create messages, messaging and media opportunities on legislative issues such as the War on Terror, Social Security reform, Medicare reform, the economy, health care and energy policy.
• Participated in planning the state funeral of former President Ronald Reagan and the lying in honor of civil rights icon Rosa Parks.
• Helped coordinate media logistics for three State of the Union speeches.
• Managed the media appearances of over 50 foreign leaders to the United States Capitol, including addresses before Joint Meetings of Congress.
• Wrote remarks for appearances before industry trade groups, on the campaign trail and speeches to be given on the House floor.
• Wrote remarks for Special events – including the Speaker's prime-time address to the State funeral of President Ronald Reagan.
• Managed media relations for politicians, associations, think tanks and non-profit groups.
• Has placed Crosby~Volmer clients in national media outlets including: C-SPAN, FOX news, The Associated Press and the Capitol Hill Publication, Roll Call among others.
